Saint Xavier University’s (SXU) Shannon Center has been open to the community for over 16 years! As a way to show appreciation of the community’s support, the Shannon Center will highlight one loyal member each month. Members will be chosen by a full-time staff manager or student manager and will be featured on the Shannon Center’s website.
The Member Spotlight for the month of February is Pat Rohan. A Beverly resident, Rohan truly enjoys the Shannon Center for its “community feel,” where it’s not only convenient but a place to interact with the various gym-goers. He is a retired teacher and administrator who has been devoted to running for many years. Rohan loves the idea of a university with such a strong tie to the community and at the Shannon Center, he experiences just that! A typical workout for him includes 15 minutes with weights followed by a quick two-mile walk on the track. As a result, his dedicated workouts and drive for competition help keep him motivated.
“Being a longtime member of the running community boosted my motivation, which helped develop my strong competitive streak,” said Rohan. “If you’re looking for motivation, try an exercise class – the teachers are enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I find that I always get a better workout being with others and the Shannon Center has become like family to me!”
Congratulations, Pat! Check back to see the Shannon Center Member Spotlight for the month of March!
