We realize that many K-12 schools are closed, that public transportation may be slowed, that automobiles may not function properly and that some students will be unable to make it to class or to make it to class on time. In view of these situations, faculty have been asked by the Provost and Deans to consider reasonable accommodations for students who find themselves in these situations and to use the class cancellation notice on the mySXU portal page if they themselves have difficulty getting to class.
Whether you are faculty, staff or student, please exercise discretion about your own situation if you must take public transportation or have any one of the situations noted above. Exposed skin should be covered when walking out of doors, and extra layers are recommended. Temperatures are expected to drop during the day Monday, with the extreme cold continuing into Tuesday. For more information and weather advisories, please visit the National Weather Service website.
Check mySXU and the SXU website for class cancellations and other announcements regarding weather-related changes. Also, if you’ve not done so, take the time to sign up for emergency text alerts. You can do this through CLAWS/Self-Service. Emergency text alerts provide you with immediate notice of campus closings, etc.
