Saint Xavier University faculty members and students marched in the 2013 Chicago Nowruz Parade on March 30 in downtown Chicago. Check out this Facebook gallery of photos from the parade.
The parade celebrates Nowruz, the first day of spring and the beginning of the Persian New Year, and promotes cultural education and awareness. Nowruz is a cultural tradition of Persian origin celebrated across countries, religions and cultures by more than three hundred million people. The festival is rooted in the traditions of the Zoroastrian religion and honors the rebirth of nature.
