Presentation of the University’s three annual service awards will be the central feature of SXU’s Mission Day festivities on Wed., March 20. All students, staff, faculty, and administrators are invited to the 3:30 p.m. ceremony in the Fourth Floor Board Room to celebrate with this year’s award recipients – faculty member Peter Hilton, Ph.D., staff member Therese Johnson, and student Kelly Mihalik, ’13.
Associate professor in the School of Education, Dr. Hilton is well regarded throughout Illinois for his insightful and sensitive work in the Master of Arts in Teaching and Leadership (MATL) program. Director of Advising and Educational Planning, Therese Johnson is well known across campus for her creative and collaborative spirit. President of the Student Government Association, Kelly Mihalik is a friendly and encouraging leader in several areas of campus life. All three consistently give life to Saint Xavier’s mission “to educate men and women…to serve wisely and compassionately in support of human dignity and the common good.”
Following the 3:30 p.m. ceremony, colleagues can offer personal congratulations to the honorees at a reception in the Butler Room. All are welcome.
Mission Day, coordinated by the Office for University Mission and Heritage, is one of three annual events that highlight SXU’s mission, values, and heritage – Mercy Day in September, Founders’ Day in December, and Mission Day in March.
