In support of Saint Xavier’s educational mission, the Office for University Mission and Heritage (UMH) is pleased to announce the availability of some grant funds for faculty participation in Catholic and/or Mercy-sponsored seminars or workshops. Interested faculty members can contact Sister Joy Clough, UMH director, for further conversation/information and for an application at (773) 298-3430 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Funding assistance is available for tenured and tenure-track faculty members to attend workshops or seminars offered by Catholic/Mercy institutions or organizations that occur between now and October, 2013. Pertinent programs may be identified by the interested faculty member or selected from a list compiled by the Office for University Mission and Heritage.
Opportunities suitable for grant support should enable the attending faculty members to expand their understanding of and participation in SXU’s Catholic and/or Mercy character, as well as to explore how the intellectual and moral/spiritual/religious resources of the Catholic Church and/or the Sisters of Mercy could be appropriately integrated into her/his teaching, scholarship, and service. Based at sites beyond SXU, these programs also will afford faculty members an opportunity to interact with peers from other Catholic and/or Mercy institutions.
Funding assistance is available through a grant from the Westerman Foundation, and grant funds will be expended on an ongoing basis until they are exhausted.
Faculty members making use of this opportunity will be expected to report on their experience and to share what they learned with the larger SXU community.
