To highlight and honor excellence and service among SXU faculty members, staff members, and students, Saint Xavier presents three prestigious awards on Mission Day each year.
In 2013, Mission Day falls on Wed., March 20. At the 3:30 p.m. awards ceremony that day, one faculty member will receive the Saint Xavier University Award for outstanding scholarship, teaching, and service. One staff member will receive the Sister Isidore Perrigo, R.S.M. Award for demonstrated initiative, responsibility, integrity, and service. One student will receive the Mother Paulita Morris, R.S.M. Award for exemplary service and leadership at and beyond SXU.
How are those award winners chosen? It starts with recognition and conversation about some of SXU’s outstanding people. From such “good gossip” comes the impetus to nominate, and anyone in the University community can submit nominations in any or all three categories.
Award criteria and nomination forms for each award are now available online using the keywords faculty, perrigo, and/or paulita for the faculty, staff, and student awards, respectively.
Nomination information and forms are also available at these campus locations: A-305, L-208, L-111, SXU Diner, Warde Academic Center Information Desk, Mercy Ministry Center, Graham School of Management, Visual Arts Center, O’Grady Center, and Orland Park Campus.
Nominations of students for the Mother Paulita Morris Award are due in L-208 by noon on Fri., Feb. 1. Nominations of staff members for the Sister Isidore Perrigo Award are due in L-111 by Fri., Feb. 8. Letters nominating faculty for the Saint Xavier University Award are due in A-305 by Fri., Feb. 8.
All members of the University community are encouraged to nominate students, staff members, and/or faculty members whom they regard as examples of excellence and service. Individuals may also self-nominate.
