Limited number of statues still available for “Cougars on Parade”
Orders due by Wed., July 25
Mirroring Chicago’s famous “Cows on Parade” art exhibit, the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations is sponsoring “Cougars on Parade” for Homecoming 2012.
We previously sent out a notice welcoming SXU staff, faculty, and student/alumni organizations to participate in this SXU community project by “adopting” a cougar statue to be decorated with a unique theme using acrylic paint and decorative pieces. To date, ten cougars have been “adopted.” A limited number are still available!
Cougars will be displayed across campus during Homecoming Week 2012. The SXU community will vote for their favorite Cougar on Parade. Prizes will be awarded to the department/organization with the most popular cougar. Participants may keep their cougar statues for display or for marketing and public relation purposes after the contest.
• PRE-ORDER YOUR COUGAR STATUE TODAY! Participants will agree to adopt a resin/fiberglass cougar (approximately 3 feet by 2 feet), primed and ready for decorating at the cost of $250 per statue. Orders (including payment) will be accepted until Wed., July 25.
• The official Cougars on Parade contest will begin on Wed., Aug. 1. Completed cougar statues will be due by Wed., Sept. 19.
• Various departments as well as student and alumni groups may combine efforts and adopt a cougar as a team. Pre-orders will allow us to anticipate the number of cougars we will order from Chicago Fiberglass Works (a local company working to keep the cost of the cougar statues as low as possible).
• Complete contest rules, including the deadline to submit your team “theme” for your cougar statue will be distributed once the pre-order is received. Cougar statues will be available and delivered to your department in August.
