Funding available for faculty to attend Community-Based Learning conferences

Application deadline is Fri., June 29

The Center for Creating Engaged Learning Environments, with funding from a federal U.S. Department of Education Title III Grant, has limited funds available to send faculty to conferences focused on Community-Based Learning (CBL).

CBL courses blend academic learning with practice outside the classroom, ordinarily in off-campus settings, and are mutually beneficial to community partner organizations and SXU students. Examples include service-learning, internships, clinical experiences, and student teaching.

Funding is available for five faculty members to attend conferences focused on Community-Based Learning in Fall 2012. Conference options include the National Society for Experiential Education Annual Conference, the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement Annual Conference, or other CBL conferences proposed by faculty members.

Applications are due on Fri., June 29. For an application or for more information, please contact Sara Gibbs Mehta at (773) 341-5889 or sgibbs@sxu.edu.
